摘要
BACKGROUND: Hyperuricemia was found associated with diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HT), atherosclerosis. Fragmented QRS (fQRS) was found associated with sudden cardiac death and adverse cardiovascular events. There is no data in literature about association between hyperuricemia and fQRS. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim to evaluate the association between uric acid and fQRS. METHODS: The medical records of consecutive patients, those were admitted at check-up policlinic, were retrospectively reviewed. The study group consisted of 252 patients. 16 patients were excluded according to exclusion parameters. Taking into consideration the inclusion criteria, 54 patients with fQRS and 182 patients without fQRS were included in the study. Biochemical, clinical, and echocardiographic parameters were evaluated in all patients. RESULTS: Patients with fQRS had higher prevalence of advanced age, HT, smoking, increased serum uric acid levels, and DM. On univariate analysis, advanced age, HT, DM, smoking, and increased serum uric acid levels were associated with fQRS. On multivariate analysis smoking, DM and increased serum uric acid levels were independent predictors for fQRS (OR 1.967; 95% CI : 1.349-3.278; P<0.001, OR 2.183; 95% CI : 1.769-4.089; P<0.001, OR 1.846; 95% CI : 1.473-2.347; P< 0.001, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: In our study, we have founded strong association between serum aric acid levels and fQRS.
