Patient and kidney graft survival rates have improved gradually owing to advances in recipient selection, donor surgery kidney preservation, recipient surgery, histocompatibility testing, immunosuppression, and the diagnosis and management of complications. This article concentrates on the selection of end-stage renal disease patients for renal transplantation.
