All-fiber power combiner for coherent beam combination using large-mode-area fiber

摘要
A 19-core signal fiber combiner is modeled and simulated for high power coherent beam combination using, large-mode-area fiber. Three critical structural parameters of the combiner (cladding/core diameter ratio eta, taper ratio gamma and taper length 1,) are analyzed to find the requirements on the fabrication process for preserving beam quality (BQ) of output combined beam. The optimal BQ=1.1 is obtain when eta=4, gamma=3.5 and L=8cm with the power transmission efficiency above 99%. In addition, a 9-core fiber we fabricated is introduced and tapered following the above value.
