摘要
The average age of the power transmission networks worldwide is approximately 30 years [1]. According to [2], around 32% of HV power networks worldwide were constructed using oil-filled (OF) cables. Although these cables are the oldest in the networks, only about 12% of their failures are caused by aging processes. It is expected that future failure rates will remain fairly constant around present levels or increase linearly [1]. Figure 1 shows a service-aged external gas-pressurized OF cable together with bushings at the point where the cable is connected to the substation. The cable had been in service for 28 years. © 2012 IEEE.
