A high transmission and low loss metamaterial with negative refraction at 458 THz

摘要
In this paper using a regular 2-dimensional array of unit cells composed of two silver slabs on which silver nano rods are set, we have obtained a metamaterial exhibiting negative refraction in the near infrared electromagnetic region. Our calculations confirm that the value of FOM at 458 THz is 10.7 which is, according to our knowledge, the highest value ever reported for a negative refractive index material at this frequency. This corresponds to a high transmission with a low loss at the mentioned frequency which is confirmed by the calculated transmission spectra. (C) 2012 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.
