摘要
Wireless telecommunication systems are among the fastest and easiest means of local and global data transfer. In Nigeria, data transferring via wireless is made available through network service providers such as MTN Nigeria, Glo, Airtel, Etisalat and the like. Over the years, users of these network service providers have greatly increased most especially MTN Nigeria. Due to the increase in number of suscribers this has led to some issues in the system such as crosstalk, echo, and signal loss among others which in turn causing discomfort to the users. The MTN network provider company was investigated, traffic data of the network elements collected were from OMC measurement (BSC and MSC) using some predefined algorithms, that consists of counter. The study revealed that MSC route 11(0), has the highest calls attempt with a percentage of 18.7% during the Busy Hour Traffic (BHT), The route with the lowest calls attempt, was MSC route 17(11) having percentage 1.3% Route BSC 9 has the highest Grade of Service with a percentage of 15.4% while Route MSC 17(11) has the lowest Grade of Service with a percentage of about 0.4% MSC 17 (11) and MSC 16 (1) have the highest Call Completion rate having a percentage of 13.3% while BSC 9 route with the lowest Call Completion Rate. The route with the highest TCHs Utilization Rate is MSC 17(11), while BSC 10-3(9) has the lowest TCHs Utilization is having a percentage of 7.3% The study showed that the higher the number of subscribers on the route, the higher the grade of service. Therefore, to ensure efficient grade of service and maintain good network sustainability, network provider should avoid overcrowding of subscribers on their bandwidth. Also, effort should be made by this mobile communications operator to increase the bandwidth and reduce the TCHs Utilization rate, so as to reduce the error messages received by their subscribers.
