摘要
This paper deals with performance comparison of 40Gb/s dense wavelength division multiplexed (DWDM) network using Duobinary return to zero (DRZ), carrier suppressed return to zero (CSRZ) and modified DRZ (MDRZ) modulation schemes. Quality factor and bit error rate (BER) are observed on varying channel spacing, number of channels and fiber length at fixed laser power. As a result, 64x40Gb/s CSRZ modulation scheme delivers maximum Q factor of 41dB at 100GHz channel spacing due to high tolerance towards crosstalk and chromatic dispersion, while 16x40Gb/s MDRZ scheme serves maximum transmission reach of 5250km due to high spectral efficient.
