摘要
The effects on the wear mechanisms of the chemical and mineralogical composition of the second phases usually present in commercial aluminas used to produce grinding media and mill linings were investigated. The tribological behaviour was studied using a pin-on-disk apparatus and testing homologous material couples of suitable specimens machined from commercial grinding media. Detailed observations of the worn surfaces were carried out using atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Cross sections of the specimens were also examined to identify the presence of sub-surface cracks below the wear scars.
