The following structure of the O-specific polysaccharide of Proteus mirabilis O5 was established by H-1 and C-13 NMR spectroscopy at 500 MHz, including two-dimensional COSY, TOCSY, NOESY, and H-detected H-1, C-13 heteronuclear multiple-quantum coherence (HMQC) experiments: [GRAPHICS] where O-acetylation of alpha-D-GlcNAc at both positions is nonstoichiometric.
