Investigation of Strain Field of Precipitates in an Al-Zn-Mg-Cu Alloy

摘要
The strain field of different-stage precipitates, GP II zones and eta', in an spray formed Al12Zn2.4Mg1.1Cu alloy have been quantitatively investigated employing transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and geometric phase analysis (GPA). Results show that hardness changes of the alloy is closely related with the change of the main precipitates. The main cause of hardness rising rapidly is that a lot of diffused GP II zones separate out. The eta' is the main precipitate at the peak hardness and the evolution process and strengthening principle of the GP II zones and eta' were discussed.
