Orthogonal Phase Distortions in Apertures of Linear and Planar Phased Arrays with Different Amplitude Distributions

摘要
The behavior of orthogonal phase harmonics representing amplitude-phase distributions of electromagnetic fields in linear phased array antennas are analyzed for various amplitude distributions. The dependence of the shape of the far-zone radiation pattern (RP) of a linear antenna on the number of the phase orthogonal harmonic of the radiation field and its Fourier expansion coefficient in the representation of the total phase distribution function is validated. In this case, the phase distribution function is represented as a convergent Fourier series with the aforementioned harmonics as basis functions. Utilization of this approach allows us to efficiently solve antenna RP synthesis problems, in particular, ensure formation of RP nulls in specified or unknown directions of arrival of interfering signals.
