摘要
Fine and dense silicon nitride-based ceramics were produced and characterized. Substantial increase in sinterability and refinement of the microstructure (mean grain size < 0.2 mu m) were reached by the addition of ultrafine Si/C/N powders to commercial Si3N4 submicronic powder. Moreover this ultrafine powder was densified. The effects of different amounts of sintering aids (La2O3 + Y2O3) and of powder treatment methods on microstructure and mechanical properties were evaluated and compared.
