摘要
Wind-induced responses of flexible structures such as long-span bridges and high-rise buildings have quite diverse complex characteristics. The structural control approaches to suppress those wind-induced responses of flexible structures are roughly classified into two categories. One is the configuration control, quite traditional approach to modify their shapes of the cross section and/or the whole appearance to get better stability and smaller wind forces, while another is the application of so-called control devices appropriately designed to suppress those responses down to possible lower level. A couple of examples of the complex characteristics of wind-induced responses and the performances of their suppression are shown to discuss those circumstances comprehensively.
