Retrogression and reageing treatment of an Al-8Zn-2.2Mg-2.2Cu alloy

摘要
An investigation was made into the influence of retrogression and reageing (RRA) treatment on the microstructure, tensile properties and stress corrosion cracking (SCC) resistance of an Al - 8Zn - 2.2Mg - 2.2Cu alloy. The results show that the preageing process could affect the retrogression behavior, then influence indirectly the SCC resistance of the alloy. With proper combination of preageing process and retrogression process, better SCC resistance without marked strength deterioration could be obtained.
