摘要
E-learning and e-testing software systems (either seen separately or integrated) are both tools that offer multiple directions over expanding their functional capabilities, as they have clearly changed the pedagogical approaches over the two basic concepts of learning and testing. Considering the rapid growth of the Internet in the last few years, the conventional computer aided learning is, as a consequence, gradually evolving towards web-based computer aided learning, mainly due to ease of access, ease of use and the extremely wide spreading of internet networks - specially mobile or wireless. Since one of the main objectives for improving the e-learning domain is represented by the development of new time and cost effective solutions, the paper focuses on describing a web-based e-testing system used for official examination or for self-testing in universities, consisting in two modules that correctly segregate the functional elements a teacher and a student need (they, of course, have completely different roles inside the application). Taking into consideration the metadata standardization model, it is essential to analyze the mechanism of integrating the questions inside the system. The proposed application contains linear and dynamic algorithms for generating the tests, based on either static or randomly question adding mechanisms that allow users to manage, plan and prepare all the assessments they need by adding simple rules and operate changes over them in real time. The system is already being used in one university and, as all gathered user experience feedback reveals, it is a well built, robust and attractive application.
