摘要：
Landau-Devonshire theory is used to find analytical expressions for the polarization profile in a ferroelectric film by minimizing the free energy functional for the film. Particular attention is paid to how the profile can be calculated from the boundary conditions, which ultimately requires the solution of transcendental equations. A numerical scheme for dealing with this is discussed.
