摘要
At room temperature a submerged entry nozzle (SEN) generally exhibits a more or less distinct gas permeability. This paper assesses the influence of gas permeability at casting temperature on clogging and steel cleanliness respectively. Commercially available SENs are examined regarding bulk density, open porosity and pore size distribution. On a laboratory scale immersion tests simulating worst case casting conditions are carried out. Hence it can be concluded that permeable pores at room temperature are not effective at casting temperature.
