摘要
The article presents a case study, in which the aim is to detect and assess the long-term trends of the micro-regional differentiation of the demographic development in Vysocina Region. It looks into the issues within the context of broader connections of the regional development and its natural relations, and at the same time it focuses on the search of particular determinants of this development and clarifying the essence of the current state. The methodology is based on the analysis of the changes in the number of inhabitants and the population density of fifteen districts (SO ORP) within the period between 1869-2011 and its partial phases as follows 1869-1910, 1910-1950, 1950-1991, 1991-2011. For the purpose of quantification and comparison of the dynamics of the micro-regional development the so called index of change and the relative index of change were used. Based on the results from the analysis the micro-regions were divided, according to the prevailing tendency of their long-term population development, into four types: growth, stable, new peripheries and classic peripheries. In general, it can be said that within the observed period between 1869-2011 the biggest growth was mainly in the micro-regions with big industrial districts situated in the Moravian part of its area.
