In this paper, we obtain the general solution of a generalized cubic functional equation, the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability, and the stability by using the alternative fixed point for a generalized cubic functional equation 4f(Sigma(n)(j = 1) (-) (1)x(j) + mx(n)) + 4f(Sigma(n)(j = 1) (-) (1)x(j) + mx(n)) + m(2)Sigma(n)(j = 1) (-) (1)f(2x(j)) = 8f(Sigma(n)(j = 1) (-) (1)x(j)) + 4m(2)Sigma(n)(j = 1) (-) (1)(f(x(j) + x(n)) + f(x(j) - x(n))) for a positive integer m >= 1.
