摘要
Cultivar characterization for fruit trees certification requires fast, efficient and reliable techniques. Microsatellite markers (SSR) were used in the molecular characterization of 70 olive (Olea europaea L.) samples, originating from diverse areas in central-southern Italy (Abruzzo, Apulia, Calabria, and Umbria) and corresponding to 3 major cultivars. The molecular analysis showed differences between the three cultivars 'Carolea', 'Coratina' and 'Frantoio'. 'Carolea' is polyclonal, while 'Coratina' and 'Frantoio', are probably monoclonal. A thorough investigation of the existing variability will prove of major importance for both management and economic production of olive trees.
