Pushing the boundaries of testing and continuous integration

Agile and eXtreme Programming practices have popularised concepts of test driven development and continuous build cycles to the software community. Such practices are typically adopted to implement and deliver functionality early in the development process. However, some types of applications such as the one described in this report also require continuous tests for performance and robustness. This report shows the experiences of the authors in extending the continuous build loop to include additional tests for performance and robustness, with the intention of overcoming limitations of standard testing ftameworks when applied to highly concurrent and real time applications. It also describes how they went about building the appropriate framework to support the execution and verification of the test results.
