摘要
In this paper an asymptotic analysis of impulsively started, forced linear internal gravity waves is presented. This investigation describes horizontally propagating waves for fluids with constant buoyancy frequency in a domain of finite vertical extent. The analysis provides a description for the wave field in the large time limit. The asymptotic solution is derived using the method of steepest descents, and the results are compared against numerical experiments to demonstrate their accuracy.
