Urban and architectural analysis of commercial areas in sixteenth-century Seville: Las Gradas and the alcaicerias of Santa Maria la Mayor and San Salvador
The subject of this paper is the study of commercial areas in sixteenth-century Seville. An urban and typological analysis based on historical documents has been developed. In addition, hypothetical plans of the areas and the buildings at some of the most im-portant trading sites such as Las Gradas and the alcaicerias of Santa Maria la Mayor and San Salvador have been made. This analysis includes surfaces, purposes, heights and density of the buildings.
