The gaseous PVTx properties of {propane (R290) + 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (HFC-134a)} were measured at temperatures from 252 K to 320 K and corresponding pressures from 200 kPa to 2000 kPa and compositions from 0.4 to 0.65 mass fraction of R290 using the Burnett isothermal expansion method. The uncertainties in the present measurements were estimated to be within +/- 10 kPa for pressure, +/- 10 mK for temperature, and +/- 0.001 mass fraction for composition. On the basis of the experimental PVTx property data, the truncated virial equations of state were developed for the binary R290/R134a systems. The temperature dependences of the second and third virial coefficients are also discussed. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
