The World Wide Web is a powerful tool for communicating a variety of data and information. This power results from the ease with which information can be obtained and shared on the internet. The information to be shared resides on different computer hosts that are physically connected (networked) by the internet. An intranet is essentially a company's internal internet-based system that utilizes such technologies such as Web services, TCP/TP and HTTP communication protocols, and HTML publishing tools. The intranet allows users to develop an internet-based application, using graphical interfaces like the World Wide Web, while providing access to limited number of company employees through the use of internet security mechanisms. The paper discusses some of these concepts and issues. Then, a proposed internet-based project control system is discussed.
