摘要：

The treatment and care of psychiatric patients in accident and emergency medicine repeatedly lead to situations which require knowledge of the special legal aspects of these situations. The question of involuntary treatment and its boundaries has the same significance as the question when the will of the patient has to be respected. This article deals with the legal context relevant to the emergency treatment of psychiatric patients by emergency physicians.
