摘要：

The following article approach the work of the Cuban poet Nicolas Guillen taking as support the poem "Balada de los abuelos", extracted from his poetry West Indies Ltd. published for the first time in 1934, considering others posteriors and anterior works of him in order to analyse how he got to design a national identity from two identities, through his written productions. It also pretend to analyse some cultural elements which constituted his poetry in his identity creation. The benefit of this work is based on the knowledge of multicultural formation of the Cuban people.
