摘要
Till the 90's, most of the communities expected safety and security from road lighting. How can we progress further outdoor lighting? At 2000s, the requirements of local authorities are more complex. Safety and security are still main functions of public lighting, but other objective like reducing obtrusive light and make outdoor environment friendlier are more and more important. Design must take into account CO2 emission and recyclability. We are at the door-step of the next revolution. If the on-site road surface measurement, multi-layer reflectors, self-cleaning glass, low-loss ballasts and telemanagement together can generate this revolution. Or LEDs are the winners? This presentation will show possible directions for improving functionality, energy-efficiency, aesthetics, visual performance and minimising foot-print on environment.
