摘要
A facile synthesis of 3-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-chromen-2-ones (3) by the reaction of salicylaldehyde (1) with ethyl (1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)-acetate (2) is being reported. The reactions have been done under conventional, solid phase (i.e. physical grinding) as well as under microwave conditions. The latter procedure has been found to be much more efficient in terms of yield and time. The structure of all the products have been established by their spectral and analytical data.
