Acute cholecystitis in true duplication of the gallbladder

Gallbladder duplication is a rare anatomic anomaly of the biliary tract. Preoperative diagnosis and dif- ferentiation of this malformation are important to prevent inadvertent damage to the biliary system. We present a case of a 58 years old female who presented with signs and symptoms of acute cholecystitis. Abdomen ultrasound and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography detected a true duplicated gallbladder with cholecystitis in one of them. There were two independent cystic ducts joining CBD separately. Both gallbladders were removed and no post -operative complications we rereported. Accu- rately laparoscopic cholecystectomy remains the gold standard approach for intervention and these cases should be done by an experienced laparoscopic surgeon. (c) 2020 The Authors.
