摘要
A simple, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of hydrogen peroxide using variamine blue (VB) as a chromogenic reagent. The proposed method is based on the liberation of iodine in acidic medium equivalent to the amount of hydrogen peroxide present, which oxidises variamine blue to form a violet coloured species having an absorption maximum at 560 nm. Hydrogen peroxide is determined in the range 0.8 to 8.0 x 10(-4) M. The Beer law limits, precision and accuracy of the method are checked by the UV reference method. The method is successfully adopted for various rainwater samples.
