Validation of reportable indices of haematology, liver and renal function in pregnancy for the Middle Eastern population

The objective of this study was to describe normative values of complete blood counts, kidney and liver function tests for Jordanian women. A prospective study of 797 healthy pregnant women, seen at the antenatal clinics of the Jordan University of Science and Technology, in Irbid, north Jordan, was conducted between January 2005 and December 2009. Diff erences by trimester were analysed using one-way ANOVA. The mean age of the women was 31.0 years. The mean gestational age at delivery was 38.2 weeks. It was concluded that complete blood counts, kidney and liver function values by trimester, of healthy pregnant population of Jordanian women, were consistent with data reported for other populations.
