Spin reorientation in Er2Fe14B intermetallic compound

摘要
The Er2Fe14B intermetallic compound has been investigated by Fe-57 Mossbauer spectroscopy and by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) in the temperature range 80-370 K. The spin reorientation phenomenon near 325 K has been studied extensively by narrow step temperature scanning. The temperature dependencies of hyperfine parameters and subspectra contribution were derived from experimental spectra. It was found that in the region of transition each subspectrum splits additionally into two Zeeman sextets, which are characterised by different hyperfine magnetic fields and quadrupole splittings. A consistent description of Mossbauer spectra in the temperatures below the transition, in the course of the transition and above the transition - was established. The endothermic DSC peal, was observed which corresponds to the transition from basal plane to axial easy magnetisation direction. The spin reorientation temperature was established to be T-SR = 325 +/- 1 K and the enthalpy of the transition DeltaH = 0.32 +/- 0.04 J/g.
