摘要
A relatively new rapid consolidation technique, Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) is applied to compacted laminates and functionally graded materials (FGM). It is demonstrated that this is an effective method to suppress diffusion and reactions between the laminated layers during the densification. This presentation comprises a brief description of the SPS technique and the preparation rout of various functionally graded materials. A more extended presentation of the microstructures and properties of laminated FGM in TiN-Al2O3, Diamond-WC, and alpha-beta sialon systems is also given.
