An experiment was conducted during the rainy seasons of 1992 and 1993 to find out the suitability of different row combinations of soybean [Glycine mar (L.) Merr.] and pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.] in the black soils of Krishna-Godavari zone in Andhra Pradesh for efficiently utilizing the land resources. Paired row planting of pigeonpea at 60/150 cm with 4 rows of soybean in between was the best method with significant soybean-equivalent yield (1.984 kg/ha), high land-equivalent ratio (1.56) and benefit: cost ratio (2.58).
