Study on the Development of Reinforced Polypropylene Chopped Glass Fiber Sizing Agent

In this paper, the formula of the sizing agent for chopped glass fiber reinforced polypropylene (PP) was designed. And through analyzing and testing the performance of drawing process, properties of chopped glass fiber strands, the mechanical properties and color difference of composite, the optimal formula of the sizing, which includes film-former agent, coupling agent, lubricants and moisturizing agent, was selected. Results showed that the tensile strength, flexural strength and impact strength of chopped glass fiber reinforced PP composite could been obviously improved by using the optimal sizing agent formula, which reached 72.13 MPa, 98.51 MPa, 7.47 kJ/m(2), respectively, and the performance of drawing process and properties of chopped glass fiber are also perfect.
