摘要
The main objective of this research is to study the tribological and thermophysical behavior of ZnO nanoparticles as an additive at different weight percentages (0.1%, 0.4%, and 0.7%) in diesel oil. The anti-friction behavior of the ZnO nanoparticles as a lubricating oil additive is evaluated in diesel oil employing a pin-on-disc tribometer. The worn surface is characterized using the scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The viscosity of ZnO nano lubricants at 100 degrees C raised by about 10.14%. Pour point and flash point temperatures of the prepared nanofluids were determined using standard ASTM D97 and ASTM D92 methods, respectively. The obtained results show that ZnO nanoparticles have considerably progressed the tribological features of the pure diesel oil. The pour point was decreased by about 15% while the flash point was increased by about 6% when the diesel oil was dispersed with 0.7 wt% ZnO nanoparticles. (C) 2020 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC.
