摘要
In this paper we discuss the development of a low cost surface electromyography (sEMG) system and its efficacy as a mechanism for human-machine interfaces. By reducing the size of the surface electromyography hardware to a compact form makes its use as a wearable interface feasible. Reducing both the system cost and complexity while maintaining signal quality also moves towards a viable commercial product. In addition to the compact sEMG system a method for analysing and identifying active signals was developed that can be implemented in real time interfaces. The potential interface structure and methodology was also examined. To evaluate the compact sEMG system two different applications were developed to assess its performance.
