摘要
Objective: To describe the accessibility of the elderly to the University of Maturity, according to sex. Method: This is a cross-sectional quantitative study, carried out in the city of Palmas, Tocantins, with 27 elderly people, whose data were collected using a pre-established questionnaire. Results: The bus was the main transportation used, especially among the elderly women (68,4%). Among the main problems to reach the UMA and to walk on the sidewalk the problems on the sidewalks (37,0%) and the irregular sidewalk (48,1%)were pointed out mainly among women. Regarding the difficulties to cross the street, the drivers' impatience(44,4%) predominated among men. Conclusion:Problems related to the sidewalks and impatience of the drivers stand among the main accessibility problems pointed out by the older adults of the UMA. Therefore,it's necessary that the population and government seek to improve the accessibility needs of the elderly in order to guarantee the tight to come and go of these individuals.
