A novel dual quarter-wavelength (lambda/4) hairpin microstrip resonator is proposed, which is composed of two;L A stepped-impedance resonators (SIR's) that are coupled through a shorted stub section. In this study, the dual resonator structure is utilized to design a bandpass filter for which the filter order may be doubled and the via number required in the conventional lambda/4 filter may be reduced to halt Specifically, a four-pole quasi-elliptic microstrip filter is realized with two pairs of transmission zeros created around the passband edges so that the filter selectivity may be improved.
