摘要
Phosphates show a variety of applications in different fields such as forensic science, solid state lighting, dosimetry and in medicine, etc. Here the use of calcium based phosphate materials is represented for lumines-cence applications particularly in photoluminescence (PL) and thermoluminescence (TL) as they show these fascinating properties. There are a variety of phosphate materials such as orthophosphates, and pyrophosphates developed with various methods of synthesis and activated with different dopants and are being continuously widely explored. Now the current researchers are showing interest in searching the materials which exhibit good PL properties to be used in SSL devices (solid state lighting) and which are also tissue equivalent TL materials for their capability in detecting ionizing radiations even of very low dose, for their use in medical dosimetry. So in this work review of tissue equivalent calcium based phosphate materials for luminescence applications (i.e. TL, PL) is reported mainly.
