The adoption of technologies by the elderly: contributions from the TAM model (Technology Acceptance Model)

Advances in medicine and healthy habits have caused the Spanish population to age with a better quality of life. The elderly decide that it is never late to train in the use of technology and decide to study in the University Programs for the Elderly. The aim of this study was to test whether older people's beliefs about the consequences of using a technology would determine their use of it. For this purpose, a questionnaire based on the original TAM model has been used and has been applied to a sample of 201 participants, men and women aged between 50 and 70 or more years. The results showed that, in all cases, the mean scores exceeded with the central mean score of 2.5 points, indicating a strong trend towards "demonstrability of results", "intention to use technologies", "perceiving them as useful ", and "perceived enjoyment" in the use of them.
