摘要
During the nineteenth century elementary education was supplemented by the State and with the intervention of the Church. In the early years the books were the main support for teaching were the catechisms as an educational model inherited from the Enlightenment to the second half of the book publishing and devoted to increased knowledge of the states and municipalities, as well Geography of America or Universal, particularly in the last twenty years were published almost a hundred books. However the absence of a scientific program at least had an uneven quality in content and images they used, but were incorporated prints, photos, maps, not all of good quality, showing natural and cultural elements of the state, the municipality or city they represented. Among the featured authors are cited Ezequiel A. Chavez (1896), and Antonio Garcia Cubas.
