From the beginning, the documentation of printed music has been an important area for RISM. However, the projects that led to book publications for series A/I, B/I, and B/II were basically completed when Series A/II: Music Manuscripts was initiated at the beginning of the 1980s. Along the way, so to speak, four supplementary volumes and an index were subsequently published, and a CD-ROM version of Series A/I came out in 2011. With the data from the CD-ROM and the data from Series B/I and B/II, which are partially converted already and partially still waiting to be transferred, new prospects arise for the documentation of printed music with RISM. This is especially the case when one includes existing catalogue data and digital objects in library resources worldwide.
