Correct deformation texture prediction is especially crucial when used as input data for any kind of recrystallisation texture model. The fundamentals of a new Taylor type deformation texture model with consideration of grain interaction are described. This GIA model treats the deformation of an 8 grain aggregate embedded in a homogeneous surrounding, The deformation of the aggregate is fully prescribed, but a compatible relaxation of deformations within the aggregate is allowed. An extra energy term for the compensation of resulting strain incompatibilities through geometrically necessary dislocations (GND) was introduced to balance the amount of relaxation. The model incorporates a dependency on material, strain hardening, grain size, grain shape and elastic constants.
