摘要
Measuring knitted fabric courses and wales per unit length, using the conventional measuring method, takes time and depends on human precision An automatic knitted fabric density measuring system using computer image processing and analysis, was developed. A procedure able to determine wales density correctly was developed, while this system fails to determine correctly fabric having more than forty courses per inch. In order to overcome this problem, another system was designed to measure fabric having more than 40 courses per inch correctly, only it needs more time than the first one. To evaluate the proposed method, densities of twenty six fabrics having various knitted structures were determined and compared with the manual method. No statistical significant difference was obtained between both results.
