摘要
Catalytic efficiency of bases and a Lewis acid for isomerization of galactose into tagatose was comparatively studied. NaH2PO4 + Na2HPO4 phosphates and Mg-Al hydrotalcite were tested as soluble and solid base catalysts. Selectivity towards tagatose over these base catalysts decreases along with galactose conversion owing to formation of sorbose as a side product. In the presence of the bases, yield of tagatose was limited to 16% obtained at 51% galactose conversion. Sn-BEA zeolite presents a solid Lewis acid. This catalyst enables a selective transformation of galactose giving rise to tagatose in 24% yield at 29% conversion of the substrate.
