A COMPARISION OF OCT AND RETINAL FUNDUS IMAGES FOR AGE-RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION

摘要
Retinal diseases are the most important issue in the medical field. Macular retinal commonly known as drusen present in the eye is infected with Age related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and can be visualized with both optical coherence tomography (OCT) and Retinal fundus imaging. Earlier, fundography (fundus imaging) was the most widely used test to detect AMD. But now a days, OCT is widely used for detecting AMD due to its ability to detect any small changes in the retinal layers. This paper compares the two imaging techniques of detecting AMD by the extraction of blood vessels for fundus images and extraction of RPE layer for OCT images using a set of images acquired for twenty different subjects. These images were studied for OCT and fundus images out of which ten subjects were affected by AMD and remaining ten subjects were of a healthy condition.
