After uptake, Salmonella resides within a unique organelle, the Salmonella-containing vacuole (SCV) in which it eventually replicates. Here we recapitulate the knowledge about how Salmonella controls SCV maturation and the different steps of its intracellular trafficking. (C) 2001 Editions scientifiques et medicales Elsevier SAS.
