European Union and UK present and future legislation on the management of sewage sludge

摘要：
The requirements of new European Union laws on urban waste water treatment are creating a doubling in sludge production while at the same time placing additional restrictions on sludge disposal. This paper considers the available disposal options and how these options are influenced by current and future UK and EU legislation. The paper concludes with observations for the future management of sludge disposal.
